Cancellation & Refund Policy

All payments on Safarnama are held in escrow via Razorpay, which means your money is protected until the trip is completed. This policy explains exactly when and how refunds are issued.
Escrow Protection
Your payment is never released to the organizer until the trip is completed. A full refund is initiated automatically — credited to your original payment method within 5–7 business days, with no deductions or processing fees.
1. If You (Traveler) Cancel
Each trip has one of three cancellation policies chosen by the organizer. The policy is clearly displayed on the trip page and booking confirmation. Please check before booking.
- More than 7 days before trip start: Full refund (100%)
- Between 3 and 7 days before trip start: 50% refund
- Less than 3 days before trip start: No refund
- More than 7 days before trip start: 50% refund
- Less than 7 days before trip start: No refund
- More than 14 days before trip start: 25% refund
- Less than 14 days before trip start: No refund
* All cut-off times are calculated from the trip's departure date at 00:00 IST.
2. If the Organizer Cancels
Full Refund — Always
If the organizer cancels a trip for any reason — weather, insufficient bookings, operational issues, or any other cause — every traveler booked on that trip receives a 100% refund from escrow. No deductions. No processing fees.
Organizers who cancel trips may be subject to penalties including temporary suspension from the platform and negative impact on their organizer rating.
3. Platform-Initiated Cancellations
Safarnama may cancel a booking or a trip listing in the following circumstances:
- Fraudulent or suspicious payment activity detected
- Organizer fails KYC verification or provides false documents
- Trip listing is found to violate our policies or applicable law
- Credible safety concerns that cannot be resolved with the organizer
In all platform-initiated cancellations, affected travelers receive a full refund.
4. How to Cancel Your Booking
- 1.Go to My Bookings from your account menu.
- 2.Select the booking you wish to cancel.
- 3.Click "Cancel Booking" and confirm your reason.
- 4.The refund amount (based on the trip's cancellation policy) will be displayed before you confirm.
- 5.Once confirmed, the refund is initiated and will reflect in your original payment account within 5–7 business days.

Timelines are from the date the refund is initiated by us. Actual credit depends on your bank. All refunds are processed via Razorpay.
6. Non-Refundable Scenarios
No refund will be issued in the following situations:
- You voluntarily leave the trip after it has commenced
- You are denied participation due to failure to carry valid ID
- You are removed from a trip due to misconduct or violation of the organizer's rules, as determined by the organizer and upheld after review by Safarnama support (you may request a review within 48 hours by emailing support@safarnama.in)
- You provided incorrect information (age, medical condition, ID details) that affects eligibility
- You miss the trip departure without prior notification
- Cancellation is initiated after the "No Refund" window under the applicable policy
7. Partial Group Cancellations
If you booked seats for multiple travelers and wish to cancel only some of them, you may do so through the My Bookings section. The refund for cancelled seats will be calculated based on the trip's cancellation policy and the applicable time window at the time of cancellation. Remaining seats in your booking are not affected.
8. Force Majeure
In the event a trip cannot proceed due to circumstances beyond the organizer's control — including but not limited to natural disasters, floods, extreme weather, government-imposed restrictions, civil unrest, or road closures — the organizer must notify all booked travelers immediately. In such cases, travelers will receive a full refund from escrow, regardless of the trip's stated cancellation policy.
Safarnama is not liable for any additional costs (travel to the departure point, accommodation already booked, etc.) incurred by travelers in force majeure situations.
Refund not received?
If your refund hasn't appeared within the stated timeline, email us at support@safarnama.in with your booking reference number. We'll investigate and resolve it within 48 hours.
